5. Think About the Stove

Plan for counter space on both sides of the stove or cook surface and on at least one side of a wall oven in order to have ample area for moving cooking utensils and hot foods.

Have the stove, the preparation area and the sink located away from storage cabinets, the refrigerator and serving area.
For safety’s sake, don’t put the stove or cook surface near a doorway or open window.
